Having lived too long an unhealthy lifestyle of high stress, poor diet, and little exercise, I knew I needed to make a shift. Enter a hospital stay then a global pandemic and the shift began.
Deciding to make a change, I quit smoking and started running.....a lot. Running became my freedom from so many of life's stressors, and now I can breathe. It became so much of my daily existence that I began to wonder, was I replacing one addiction with another? Was I running away from something or towards it? The answer came from a torn IT band.
Sidelined, I needed something to combat the blues and tame the inner beast. After much suggestion from my daughter, I started practicing yoga and discovered that yoga could not only heal my body, but calm my mind and sooth my soul. It healed my injury, helped tame the beast and released an inner peace that I never knew existed. And better yet, brought me to a community of like-minded souls of whom I wished for but never knew how much I needed.
